Now, on one particular day, Lizy was outside his little house out on the Lizard Plains, sitting in a lawn chair and enjoying the day. And a fine day it was! The sun was shining down on the land, and there was a cool, gentle breeze in the air.

It was still quite early in the morning - Lizy had just finished his breakfast, in fact - when something rather unexpected and all together dreadful came about! I suppose I ought to start at the beginning.

Lizy was just starting his (third) glass of lemonaid when coming up the road from the south east was Speedy, Lizy's technical advisor and messenger.

Lizy also had two other friends who helped him out which I must mention before we go any further: Bob, Lizy's nervous inventorist, and Chubby, the not-so-skinny, slow thinking military advisor to Lizy.

Anyhow, back on subject, Lizy could tell by the look on his face that something was not quite right!

"Lizy! Lizy!" cried Speedy running up to Lizy, "It's more terrible than an elephant running over a cement mushroom patch! Cruel has taken control of the Mt. Lizard Castle, and the King is in much trouble!"

Cruel was a horrible, evil dictator who appeared every now and then to try and invade Lizard Valley. He had many armies under his command and greatly hated the lizards of the Valley, most of all Lizy, for Lizy was always able to stop Cruel in the end somehow.

"We must get to the castle right away!" said Lizy hopping out of his lawn chair. But as he did this, the chair snapped shut on his tail. "WOWR!" cried Lizy in pain.

"We're in quite a pickling predicament!" said Speedy taking no notice of Lizy in distress, "If we don't make it in time, Lizard Valley will be in a horrible state in no time!

"There are two good ways to Mt. Lizard from here, as you know. We can take to the highways before Cruel has time to set up checkpoints on the roads, or we can sneak into the castle from behind by going through the mines east of here. What are we to do?"
