My Wish List
This is my personal wish list of characters that I would like to see in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. No doubt you have your own tucked away somewhere. Well, I decided to share mine. It was originally nothing but a mental list in my head, but I've written it out here for everyone to see. Obviously, many of these characters have little chance, while others are sure bets. But it is, after all, a wish list.
Names in bold are confirmed. Names in italics are characters that were announced that were not on my wish list. Names crossed out are ones who have been deconfirmed (usually because they've been made a trophy).
- Mario
Because childhood heroes are awesome. End of story. He needs a Dr. Mario alternate costume, though. Seriously. - Luigi
Mario without Luigi? That's like peanut butter without jelly. - Wario
Wario was missing from Melee. It was like this big, stinky hole in the game. Now it's patched. He's the only Mario character that needs to be added—and oh, look! He was! His jerky animation scares me, though... - Peach
She always seemed like an odd choice to me for Melee, but I'm glad to see she's back. She can be fun, although she's a bit too much of a blonde stereotype at times. - Bowser
His model alone is reason enough. - Yoshi
C'mon, it's YOSHI. There should be a way to ride him. - Donkey Kong
He's one of the original, and he's among the most recognizable Nintendo characters. It would be a SIN not to include him. - Diddy Kong
Diddy was an awesome buddy in Donkey Kong Country. Glad to see him in. Dixie Kong
She was fun to play as in Donkey Kong Country, okay? She wasn't originally on my wish list, but she deserves more respect after getting "replaced" in Donkey Kong 64.- Link
Ring up another childhood hero, please. Young Link(was replaced by "Toon Link")
And not cel-shaded Link, please. It just wouldn't look right. And please no chibi, either. We already have Lucas and I want a kid to play as, not a boy with a small planet for a head. There's nothing wrong with Wind Waker's art style, it just doesn't fit in Smash Bros.- Zelda
Another odd addition to Melee in my opinion. Makes sense, though, I guess. - Sheik
She hardly does diddly-squat in the games besides help Link figure out where to go next. I swear, sometimes I think that kid wouldn't know how to use the bathroom if someone didn't tell him how. And she loses the only battle she takes part in! Still, she's just plain awesome in Melee. I used to really want Zelda to keep the Sheik transformation, just because it makes her all that interesting, but now I'm leaning towards the "Make Sheik Her Own Character" camp. - Ganondorf
You need the third member of the triforce. Oh, and a Ganon transformation for his final smash. YES, PLEASE! Vaati
In his human form from The Minish Cap, my personal favorite Zelda game. He wasn't originally on my wishlist, but I saw his name floating around and thought "Oh, yeah, he'd be pretty cool!" Besides, he's the series's second-biggest villian. His final smash could be him transforming into his giant winged eyeball form. He is required to have his little cape flapping thing as one of his taunts. :3- Pikachu
He's the face of Pokémon. Smash Bros. without Pikachu might as well be Smash Bros. without Link or Mario. - Jigglypuff
"Ji~g'ly~puff! Ji~g'ly!" Song alone should earn her/him a spot. Besides, she/he's one of the original twelve. Pichu
"Pichu!" Rolling around in the dirt just being plain cute. Best. Taunt. Ever. Besides, Smash Bros. needs its Dan.Mewtwo
I want to see him with a perfected moveset. And a voice actor that speaks English.- Lucario
If we're going to add another Pokémon, he just makes the most sense to me. Doesn't hurt that he kinda looks cool For a Pokémon, of course. - Pokémon Trainer (Ash)
Long before Brawl was announced, I'd mentioned that I'd like to see Ash as a playable character. I'm not a Pokémon fan by any means, but I thought he'd be an interesting addition. Hopefully he gets an Ash alt outfit. I will admit, though, that I'm disappointed that you can't play the trainer directly somehow. :/ Or maybe you can? We still haven't seen his part in The Subspace Emissary. I think it would be interesting if he had an Ice Climbers-inspired play style, where you control the trainer directly and the Pokemon follows you via AI. The A button would be the trainer's direct attacks (the Pokemon would use "A" attacks on their own, ala Nana), whereas the B button would directly command the Pokemon (or switch them, with down-B). It was not to be, though. - Squirtle
Pokémon Trainer's pokémon. No comment. - Ivysaur
Ditto. - Charizard
See above. - Kirby
Sakurai's baby. - Meta Knight
Why he wasn't on my original wish list (the one that only existed in my head) baffles me. Maybe I just didn't think of him. Or maybe it's because I was never a big fan of him? - King Dedede
Major Nintendo franchise with only one character? How that happen!? Seriously, though, with Dedede in tow, the Kirby franchise has all three of its central stars in the spotlight. - Fox
Original twelve, and the pillar of a major Nintendo franchise. - Falco
Because he's cool. Happens to be my dad's favorite fighter in Melee thanks to his moveset. Krystal
Yes, I want her to be playable. Shoot me. Lineup needs more females anyway.- Captain Falcon
"Show me your moves!" Samurai Goroh
Captain Falcon's central rival. If any other F-Zero character makes the cut, it should be him. ...Oh, snap, an assist trophy... BLARG!- Samus
Oh, Samus, how I love thee. Let me count the ways... - Zero Suit Samus
She gets even more awesome every time I look at her! This version of Samus certainly came out of left field, but she's just as welcome as anyone else, I say. Oh, Samus, will you marry me? ♥ -
Ridley
A heavyweight character with multiple jumps. Just what the doctor ordered. And by doctor, I mean myself. Seriously, he's an awesome character, and really the only Metroid character not named "Samus" that has the tenure to represent the series. Samus needs friends! - Ness
I like the kid, okay? Wish they would give him a reimagined version, like they did Pit. - Lucas
Curse you, Lucas, if you take Ness's place! - Marth
The face of Fire Emblem to most of the world. Especially with a new game with him in it coming out for the DS, he deserves love. Roy
And you, too. I really like playing as Roy, even though I'm not that good with him. He's a younger character, and we need more of those!- Ike
I thought he'd be too much like Marth in looks and play style so he wasn't on my wish list. He's a nice addition, though. Lyn
RIP Lyn... My youngest sister really wanted to play as her. And so did I. At least she's in the game, though.Sigurd
Yes, I do want a mounted Sigurd. It could work if done right.Isaac
Golden Sun missed the Melee boat, but deserves a place in Brawl. A playable place in Brawl, mind you. Isaac is the game's initial protagonist (and in my opinion most likable) and deserves the spot more than Felix.Felix
But I still want Felix. I know a lot of people hate clones, but seriously, if it means more characters, I'm all for it. Isaac and Felix could easily share their move set and the game would be just fine.Garet
Just because I like him. Ha, ha! Garet, what silly thing are you going to say next?Jenna
She'd make a good Garet clone. And she's a girl.Andy
Advance Wars needs some love.Sami
I need some love, too.Hawke
He'd make a good villian addition. He'd make a good physical fighter, and the game could really use one or two more.Ray
One of the two Gamecube incarnations of Ray (Ray 01 and Ray Legend) would work best here.- Captain Olimar
Yes, he's only an inch tall in the games. But Kirby's only supposed to be like eight inches and they up-sized him to fit! - Pit
His model is so awesome! - Ice Climbers
These guys bring their own unique play style to the table. They should get in on that alone. - Mr. Game & Watch
This guy was unbelievable! His taunt was awesome. He's a relic, and a piece of Nintendo history that many didn't even know existed. Mike Jones
We have Japanese-only characters. Why not an American-only character? Maybe he'd even make a come back!Mach Rider
Mach Rider doesn't HAVE to ride his motorcycle, you know... Although Wario does get his.Takamaru
With Samurai Goroh out, the game needs a samurai. Who better than the hero from a long-lost game that never made it to North American shores? He'd make a nice addition, I'll admit, and he'd bring his awesome theme song to the party!- Sonic
I don't care how bad his newer games are. He represents a precious part of my youth that I remember fondly. - Snake
This... Still doesn't make sense to me... Cress
Pure wishfulness on my part.Megaman
A mainstay of the old NES lineup.Bomberman
Hudson and Nintendo have enjoyed a pretty good friendship over the years. They deserve to have their star in the game.Crono
With most of the iconic Final Fantasy characters out of the race (bye, bye, Cloud) Crono makes the most sense. Characters like Locke and Cecil just don't stand out to me enough as far as personality and style go.Geno
He's not exactly my favorite character, but he has a huge fan following despite only appearing in one game and having a cameo in the other. Besides, he has the potential for a really good, unique move set.Miis
It's the Wii! C'mon.
Don't like my list? That's okay! Do the world a favor and make your own. Seriously, it's actually pretty fun to track your wishlist as each new character gets announced.
